Title: Kris Srikkanth Backs Young Star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for National Team

Former Indian cricket captain Kris Srikkanth has voiced his strong support for 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, dubbing him the potential “next demi-god of cricket.” Srikkanth sees echoes of Sachin Tendulkar’s legendary debut in 1989 in Sooryavanshi’s performance and is urging Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar to consider him for the senior national team right away.

Sooryavanshi has been turning heads in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, showcasing his talent by dominating professional bowlers. His remarkable performances have sparked a conversation across the country about whether age should limit a player’s opportunity on the international stage.

Call for Immediate Inclusion

In a recent podcast appearance, Srikkanth did not hold back in expressing his thoughts on Sooryavanshi’s capabilities. He believes that the young talent should be included in the next series and that he should have already been in discussions for the T20 World Cup.

“I believe he should be fast-tracked into the team. He needs to get a feel for international cricket,” Srikkanth emphasized. He recalled Tendulkar’s early days, noting how similar Sooryavanshi is in facing the best bowlers. “Imagine him facing Jasprit Bumrah or Josh Hazlewood—he’s unfazed. I truly think he could be the next big star of cricket.”

Impressive Numbers

The buzz around Sooryavanshi is backed by impressive statistics. He is currently among the top scorers in the IPL, with 246 runs in just six matches and an astounding average of 41.00. His strike rate of 236.53 has left many seasoned players impressed.

This isn’t just a one-off performance; Sooryavanshi scored a century in his debut season and was a crucial player in leading India to victory in the U19 World Cup, with a standout score of 175 in the final against England.

Reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating including Sooryavanshi in the team’s upcoming tour to Ireland. He could become the youngest player in history to represent India at the senior level. Srikkanth has made his stance clear: “There’s no reason to hold him back. He has the talent to change games.”

With all eyes on this young talent, cricket fans are eager to see what the future holds for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
