Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia teamed up for a war drama titled Battle of Galwan, inspired by the clash between India and China in the Galwan Valley. However, during production, changes in the situation between the two nations prompted the Ministry of Defence to request a shift in the film’s approach. They advised Salman and his team to focus on a fictional story instead of strictly adhering to real events.
According to sources, the officials wanted to avoid any political complications and recommended that Salman rework the film. Respecting their wishes, he ended up reshooting about 40% of the movie. This new version adds more romance and a deeper backstory to his character, and it was submitted for approval under a new title, Maatrubhumi.
Recently, it has been reported that this revised version is also encountering obstacles, resulting in the film’s release being postponed beyond the previously planned May date. While Salman had initially aimed for a May 15 release, issues with censorship and approvals have made that timeline unfeasible. The film is now expected to be released in June, pending the necessary clearances.
In the meantime, Salman is set to begin filming an untitled project produced by Dil Raju around mid-April. He is focused on losing weight for this role and is excited about unveiling a fresh look in the upcoming film directed by Vamshi. Additionally, he has another superhero project with Raj DK slated to start in August.
As one of the top stars in Indian cinema, insiders are optimistic that Salman will navigate the challenges surrounding Maatrubhumi and eventually facilitate its release.
