Controversy Surrounds ‘Dhurandhar The Revenge’ Scene
The film Dhurandhar The Revenge has recently found itself at the center of controversy. A leader from the Shiv Sena party has filed a complaint concerning a particular scene featuring actor R. Madhavan. This scene involves Madhavan’s character, Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, who recites lines from the Dasam Granth. The complainant claims that this portrayal disrespects Sikh religious beliefs and Guru Gobind Singh.
In light of the concerns raised, R. Madhavan took to Instagram to clarify the situation. He expressed gratitude for the audience support and addressed the misunderstandings regarding the scene. Madhavan explained that he was aware some viewers felt hurt by the implication of him smoking while reciting sacred lines.
He clarified that the film’s director, Aditya Dhar, had instructed him to extinguish the cigarette well before delivering the lines. According to Madhavan, there was no intention to present a cigarette or smoke during the recitation of the sacred verses. He emphasized that viewers would notice there was no smoke in that moment of the scene, as the cigarette had been put out earlier on.
Madhavan expressed his deep respect for the Sikh community, mentioning his regular visits to the Golden Temple before his film releases, indicating that he never intended to offend anyone.
The controversy escalated after the Shiv Sena leader formally raised objections, stating that the scene hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community due to its portrayal of cultural symbols.
In summary, R. Madhavan and the makers of Dhurandhar The Revenge have assured the audience that they took great care to handle sensitive material with respect and that they appreciate the ongoing dialogue surrounding the film.
