Khamenei’s Presence Felt in London: Ties to Flats Near Israeli Embassy Uncovered

New Surveillance Concerns for Iran’s Supreme Leader

Recent investigations have revealed that Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s supreme leader, is connected to two luxury apartments situated near the Israeli Embassy in London. Security experts warn that the locations could allow for ongoing surveillance of the embassy.

According to reports from UK media, the multimillion-dollar properties in Kensington were uncovered during a yearlong investigation into Khamenei’s possible overseas assets. The apartments are strategically placed adjacent to the embassy compound, raising alarms about potential security risks.

The Times of London noted on March 5 that one of the buildings is positioned directly next to the Israeli Embassy on Palace Green, giving Khamenei a clear view of one of Israel’s most sensitive diplomatic posts.

Serious Security Breach?

The findings have led to significant concern, with experts calling the proximity a “serious security breach.” A terrorism specialist emphasized that the apartments essentially provide Iran a view into the rear of the Israeli Embassy from less than 50 meters away.

Bloomberg’s investigation indicated that Khamenei’s real estate portfolio might be worth upwards of $138 million, including properties in Europe and the Gulf. The two London apartments were allegedly purchased in 2014 and 2016 through intermediaries, ensuring that Khamenei’s name was concealed.

Former security director Roger Macmillan described these properties as more than just real estate. He called them a “permanent surveillance platform,” highlighting the ease of watching the embassy operations.

Financial Network

Further investigation revealed that a businessman acted as a financial go-between, acquiring high-end properties for Khamenei through a network of investments. Additionally, 11 mansions on London’s “Billionaire’s Row” were purchased using an offshore company.

These developments paint a picture of Khamenei as a rising figure within Iran’s political landscape, especially after the passing of his father, whose death occurred during a strike in a Tehran compound. Since being chosen as the successor by Iran’s Assembly of Experts, Khamenei has not made any public appearances.

Conclusion

The connection between Khamenei and the apartments in London raises significant security questions, particularly regarding Iran’s activities in the West. As tensions persist, this revelation underscores the importance of monitoring such developments closely.
