Hezbollah and Iran Set to Launch Coordinated Strike Strategy, Expert Reveals

Brief

On Tuesday, a national security expert revealed that Hezbollah and Iran have begun working together in a new wave of attacks on Israel, using deadly cluster munitions. This escalation comes after 11 days of the ongoing U.S.-Israeli military operations aimed at countering Iran.

Kobi Michael, a senior researcher at a national security institute, shared insights from his shelter near Tel Aviv, saying, “Hezbollah is fully engaged in this conflict and is cooperating closely with Iran.” He noted that many of Hezbollah’s rockets and drones are being launched at the same time as Iranian missiles.

Reports confirmed that Iran has been using cluster munitions against Israel, complicating the situation for its air defenses. These munitions explode at high altitudes, spreading smaller bombs over large areas, making them hard to intercept and especially dangerous during nighttime.

Despite Israel’s strong air defense system, experts indicate that many of the missiles launched are challenging to counter. Michael emphasized that the targeting of civilians with these munitions is a serious concern, warranting a robust response from both the U.S. and Israel.

Cluster bombs are banned by over 120 countries due to their indiscriminate impact, often resulting in severe civilian casualties.

Hezbollah is reportedly re-adapting its tactics from past conflicts, opting for guerrilla strategies in southern Lebanon. Sources indicated they are avoiding communication devices that could be intercepted by Israeli forces and are being cautious with their weaponry.

Michael highlighted that many Israeli citizens are living in constant fear, spending significant time in bomb shelters as tensions heighten. “Tel Aviv remains in emergency mode, and the situation is very serious,” he added.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they have initiated airstrikes against Hezbollah positions in Beirut, following warnings for residents to evacuate the area.

As the conflict persists, experts believe that Israel may seek to establish control over southern Lebanon to limit Hezbollah’s ability to conduct attacks.

In light of these developments, discussions about the need for a decisive and considered military response are ongoing.
