Rani Mukerji and Akshay Kumar were gearing up to work together in a film titled Oh My Goddess, directed by Amit Rai. Akshay even hinted at this collaboration by praising Rani as the “Goddess” on social media, encouraging fans to watch her latest film, Mardaani 3. However, a PR website later reported that Rani was never officially signed for Oh My Goddess.
After investigating the situation, sources confirm that Rani was indeed attached to the project alongside Akshay and Amit. Nevertheless, tensions arose due to creative differences between Rani and Amit. Rani had her own vision for the script and post-production, while Amit had a contrasting approach. This clash ultimately led to a rift between them.
Akshay attempted to mediate and align their perspectives, but it became clear that the chemistry needed for the film was lacking. Consequently, Rani decided, despite her affection for the script, to step away from the role. The team is now on the lookout for another senior actress to fill her place.
Oh My Goddess was expected to begin filming in April with a continuous shooting schedule, but those plans are currently on hold. Earlier claims suggested that no contracts were in place with Rani; however, sources confirm that pre-production was indeed underway with her involved. It seems misleading to suggest otherwise, as significant investments were made before any casting issues arose.
The film is being produced by Akshay Kumar alongside Viacom 18, featuring him in a key supporting role.
