The much-anticipated film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set to hit theaters on March 19. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the Ryan Gosling movie Project Hail Mary, originally planned for a March 20 release, will now arrive in Indian cinemas on March 26.
According to a source close to the situation, this decision was made by the team at Sony Pictures International, aimed at maximizing audience reach. Given that Dhurandhar: The Revenge is expected to perform strongly, it’s smart to delay Project Hail Mary. This adjustment allows it to release after the initial buzz around Dhurandhar, giving it a better chance to succeed at the box office.
Project Hail Mary will be available in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, and will be shown in IMAX and other premium formats. This film is part of an international partnership between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment, ensuring a broad global release, including in India.
The movie, inspired by Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, follows an astronaut named Ryland Grace (played by Ryan Gosling). He wakes up on a spacecraft without any memory of his mission or who he is. As he starts to remember bits of his past, he uncovers the urgent mission that brought him there: to face a cosmic threat capable of extinguishing Earth’s sun.
The film boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. It is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for their work on films like 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie.
