Satellite Images Reveal Damage at Iranian Naval Base Following U.S.-Israeli Strikes

Brief

Recent satellite images show fierce fires and thick black smoke at Iran’s naval base in Bandar Abbas, where at least one ship is reported to be on fire after a targeted strike. These images were revealed shortly after the U.S. and Israel initiated operations against Iran and just before President Trump indicated he may consider deploying U.S. troops if deemed necessary amid the ongoing conflict.

As tensions rise, commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a halt, according to maritime intelligence company Windward AI. Reports from the Times of Israel indicate that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards have claimed to have closed the Strait and threatened to attack any vessels attempting to pass through. However, CENTCOM confirmed that the Strait remains open.

Bandar Abbas, situated strategically on the Strait of Hormuz, serves as the main hub for Iran’s naval operations. Windward AI noted that multiple fires were burning at the port, including one on a docked ship, but many military and commercial vessels remain at the port, showing a heightened state of readiness rather than retreat.

Increased military activity and the presence of seventeen military and five commercial ships at the port signal a defensive stance. Windward also cautioned that ongoing fires at this crucial site could disrupt maritime operations across the Gulf.

Video evidence has surfaced showing strikes targeting Iran’s naval air facilities in Bandar Abbas, further escalating the situation. As conflict unfolds, U.S. Central Command claims it has successfully taken out eleven Iranian vessels in the Gulf of Oman, highlighting a significant shift in naval control.

Trump underscored that dismantling Iran’s naval capabilities is a key focus of the operation currently underway, with reports indicating nine Iranian ships have already been destroyed during this ongoing engagement.
