SYSTRA and DB Engineering Selected for Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project
The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has announced that SYSTRA and DB Engineering & Consulting will work together as Project Management Consultants (PMC) for the new high-speed rail line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
This significant collaboration involves overseeing the installation of various railway systems along the 508-kilometer route, which will connect key business and residential areas in Maharashtra and Gujarat.
This high-speed rail project marks a major milestone as it will be India’s first such service. The line is designed for trains to travel at an average speed of 250 km/h, and can reach up to 320 km/h, cutting down travel time from six hours to just over two hours.
The PMC contract focuses on implementing essential systems, including signaling and telecommunications, as well as real-time ticketing and control equipment. The technology and equipment will be provided by the DRA Infracon-Siemens joint venture.
Hari Somalraju, Managing Director of SYSTRA India, expressed pride in being part of this groundbreaking project. He highlighted SYSTRA’s global expertise in high-speed rail engineering, noting the company’s long-standing commitment to India, where it has been operating for nearly 70 years.
With this initiative, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail line is set to transform travel in the region, making it faster and more efficient.
