Man Charged After Crash at Brisbane Synagogue
In Brisbane, Australia, a man has been charged after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a synagogue on Friday night. The incident occurred around 7:15 PM local time when a black Toyota Hilux struck the gates of the synagogue on Margaret Street.
Video footage shows the truck reversing into the gates and knocking them down before the driver sped away. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the collision.
The suspect, a 32-year-old man from Sunnybank, faces multiple charges, including willful damage and hate crimes, according to Queensland Police. He was apprehended shortly after the incident without further problems.
He is expected to appear in court on Saturday. Authorities have stated there is no ongoing danger to the community.
This event comes just two months following another tragic attack during a Jewish celebration at Bondi Beach, which highlighted growing concerns about antisemitism in the region.
The police continue to monitor the situation while community leaders emphasize the importance of unity during such distressing times.
