Visakhapatnam: Indian Navy’s Role in Maritime Security Highlighted by President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the crucial role of the Indian Navy in protecting the nation’s maritime interests during a recent event in Visakhapatnam. She expressed that the navy is not only vigilant in maintaining security at sea but also contributes to stability in broader maritime areas.

While attending the International Fleet Review (IFR), President Murmu highlighted how the naval forces in the region act as reliable deterrents against various threats at sea. She praised the Indian Navy for being a first responder during humanitarian crises and natural disasters, showcasing their commitment to providing quick aid with care and skill.

The President noted that the successful participation of numerous friendly nations at the event demonstrates the shared connections among countries beyond borders. She shared her hope that this gathering of international navies would foster a strong sense of trust and partnership, empowering the oceans to become gateways for global growth and prosperity.

Murmu pointed out that the IFR symbolizes unity, trust, and respect among nations, with ships from various countries and sailors working together as a testament to shared values. She emphasized that the event’s theme, “United Through Oceans,” sends a positive message that collective naval strength can face any challenges ahead.

Highlighting India’s diplomatic philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, meaning “the world is one family,” President Murmu reiterated that cooperation and partnerships are essential for global security and stability. This spirit of collaboration is vital for building a sustainable maritime order, she added.

Additionally, she recognized Visakhapatnam’s rich maritime history, noting that the Fleet Review illustrates the city’s ongoing naval importance. The event also aligns with India’s vision of MAHASAGAR, aimed at promoting mutual growth and security.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and his wife Anna Konidela.
