SACRAMENTO, Calif. — As the FIFA World Cup draws near, businesses in Sacramento are gearing up for an influx of soccer enthusiasts. Many bars and restaurants are transforming into lively spots for fans to gather and enjoy the games.
At Garden at the Line in Midtown, the excitement is already visible with World Cup decorations, including collectible FIFA cups and a countdown clock showcasing the days until the matches begin. “We’re excited to open for every game, even during our off hours,” said Gabby Suri, the assistant general manager.
This establishment is one of over 30 venues featured in Sacramento Republic FC’s Sac Soccer Guide, highlighting spots that will host watch parties throughout the tournament. Republic FC is also organizing a free two-day block party at Downtown Plaza Park on June 24-25. “Many won’t have the chance to attend a World Cup game in person, so we’re bringing that experience right here to Sacramento,” explained Connor Sutton, the team’s vice president of fan experience.
Officials from Republic FC predict thousands will attend the block party, which aims to attract visitors and boost local businesses like restaurants and hotels.
Zebra Club is also making preparations, with plans to add new TVs and expand their viewing areas. “Think of the Super Bowl, but on a global scale. That’s what the World Cup is like,” said manager Matt Lopez. He noted that this event offers a chance for businesses to connect with new customers who might not usually visit sports bars, while also nurturing Sacramento’s growing soccer community.
With kickoff just around the corner, local business owners are ready to welcome fans from all over the region.
