Soham Rockstar Entertainment has made a significant announcement regarding the classic Hindi film Do Aur Do Paanch (1980). The company has publicly declared its rights over the movie, indicating it will take action against any unauthorized use of the property.
In a notice published on February 14, 2026, in Complete Cinema magazine, the production company stated that it holds the “sole and exclusive negative copyright” along with all related intellectual property rights tied to Do Aur Do Paanch. This includes rights for creating sequels, prequels, and remakes in any language, as well as the rights for adaptations such as comic books, television shows, stage plays, novels, and merchandise.
The company’s claim extends beyond just film rights. They also cover a wide range of ancillary rights, including reproduction, music, sound recordings, dubbing, and rights that may emerge in the future. Essentially, they are consolidating all possible exploitation formats of the film under one umbrella.
The notice strongly warns that any copying, distribution, public display, or adaptation of the film without prior written consent will be seen as copyright infringement. Such actions could lead to legal consequences under copyright laws.
Soham Rockstar Entertainment has also specifically cautioned filmmakers, broadcasters, and digital platforms not to engage in any unauthorized use of this iconic film, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.
Recently, Do Aur Do Paanch gained attention when reports emerged about Rohit Shetty incorporating elements of the film into his upcoming project, Golmaal 5. However, the director later clarified that Golmaal 5 is neither a remake nor inspired by Do Aur Do Paanch.
