Exciting Wednesday Matches Set for ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Cricket fans are in for a treat as the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 rolls into another thrilling day with three matches scheduled for Wednesday, February 11.

The action kicks off at 11 a.m. IST as South Africa faces off against Afghanistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Later in the day, former champions Australia will step onto the field for their first match against Ireland at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo at 3 p.m. IST. Finally, the spotlight will be on England and West Indies as they collide at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7 p.m. IST.

When and Where to Watch:

  • South Africa vs. Afghanistan: 11 a.m. IST, Ahmedabad (Group D).
  • Australia vs. Ireland: 3 p.m. IST, Colombo (Group B).
  • England vs. West Indies: 7 p.m. IST, Mumbai (Group C).

MATCH 1 Preview: South Africa vs. Afghanistan

South Africa is off to a flying start, having beaten Canada by 57 runs in their opening match. The team’s batting was solid, scoring 213/4, and Lungi Ngidi starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 31 runs. With their sights set on another victory, they look to beat Afghanistan, a team they eliminated in the semi-finals of the last T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan, however, is coming in after a tough loss to New Zealand by five wickets. They managed 182 runs, but it wasn’t enough as New Zealand chased it down comfortably. For Afghanistan, this match is crucial; losing could jeopardize their chances in the tournament.

Pitch Report: The Narendra Modi Stadium has seen teams winning more often when batting first, with an average score of 191 in the first innings. Captains might prefer to bat first to take advantage of good conditions.

Predicted Teams:

  • South Africa: Aiden Markram (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Ryan Rickelton, Dewald Brevis, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi.
  • Afghanistan: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan (c), Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi, Fazalhaq Farooqi.

MATCH 2 Preview: Australia vs. Ireland

It’s time for Australia to kick off their campaign against Ireland after a difficult run of form, including a 3-0 defeat to Pakistan. They’ve faced more setbacks with key players Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood out of the tournament. Australia will need to address these challenges quickly.

Ireland comes in after losing to Sri Lanka but showed promise in moments of their last game. Historically, Australia has a strong record against Ireland, but with recent struggles, this match could be more competitive than expected.

Pitch Report: The R. Premadasa Stadium traditionally favors spin bowlers, and chasing teams often find success. However, batting first might be a wise choice, especially as the pitch can slow down later in the game.

Predicted Teams:

  • Australia: Mitchell Marsh (c), Travis Head, Matthew Short, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Xavier Bartlett, Ben Dwarshuis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Adam Zampa.
  • Ireland: Paul Stirling (c), Ross Adair, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (wk), Curtis Campher, Benjamin Calitz, George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Matthew Humphreys.

MATCH 3 Preview: England vs. West Indies

England managed to edge past Nepal in their opening match, winning by just four runs thanks to brilliant efforts from Sam Curran. They face an energetic West Indies side that opened their campaign with a convincing 35-run victory against Scotland, powered by Shimron Hetmyer’s explosive batting.

This clash is significant in T20 history, especially following their memorable 2016 T20 World Cup final, and both teams are well-matched in past encounters.

Pitch Report: The Wankhede Stadium has favored teams batting first so far in this series, and players may find the pitch challenging before getting used to it. Winning the toss and opting to bat could be vital.

Predicted Teams:

  • England: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler (wk), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Harry Brook (c), Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Luke Wood.
  • West Indies: Brandon King, Shai Hope (c) (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph.
