Patna Police Capture Eight Involved in Criminal Network
Patna: Authorities have arrested eight individuals connected to a variety of illegal activities, including hawala transactions, cyber fraud, and an illegal liquor operation.
On February 7, the Danapur police acted on tip-offs that a person was being held against his will in an apartment located on Gola Road. Following the instructions of City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh, a police team carried out a raid in the apartment. They successfully rescued a man named Silana Gupta, who resides in Trimurti Nagar, Danapur, and found him along with the eight accused.
According to SP Singh, investigations revealed that the group was heavily involved in hawala dealings and the illegal liquor trade. Gupta had been pressured into signing a land agreement, which led to his captivity. During the police search of the flat, they found 19.875 liters of foreign liquor, ₹4.16 lakh in cash, and eight mobile phones, all of which were confiscated.
Further inquiries uncovered that Anish Kumar, Rahul Kumar, and Gupta were running a hawala network. They enticed local businesspeople to invest by promising a 30% return. Additionally, they were involved in cyber fraud. A separate FIR has been lodged at the cyber police station regarding these fraudulent activities. A case has also been opened at the Danapur police station and another under the Bihar Excise Act.
Those arrested include Anish, Vishal Kumar, Rahul, Rohit Kumar, Gupta, Ravi Krishna, Adarsh Kumar, and Rocky Kumar.
