JetZero Welcomes New Board Members to Enhance Aviation Innovations
JetZero, an innovative startup focused on creating all-wing commercial aircraft, has recently appointed Patrick M. Shanahan and Eric Hirshberg to its Board of Directors. These new additions bring significant knowledge in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and brand development during a crucial phase for the company.
Tom O’Leary, co-founder and CEO of JetZero, expressed confidence in their expertise: “Pat and Eric’s rare experience is exactly what we need as we transition from demonstration to actual production. Pat’s deep understanding of large aerospace programs, along with Eric’s success in transforming businesses, will greatly benefit us as we reshape the aviation industry.”
Patrick Shanahan boasts over 30 years of leadership in aerospace and defense. He has held executive positions at Spirit AeroSystems and spent three decades at Boeing, where he played vital roles in major aircraft programs like the 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787. Additionally, he served as Deputy Secretary of Defense and Acting Secretary of Defense. Shanahan holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and MIT, as well as an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Shanahan stated, “JetZero is addressing one of aviation’s toughest challenges with the ambition it requires. The all-wing Z4 signifies a major leap in efficiency and performance. I’m proud to join the team to bring this aircraft to fruition and help develop the infrastructure for large-scale production.”
Eric Hirshberg, known for his role as CEO of Activision, is now an advisor for various entrepreneurial companies like Beta Technologies and Skydio. He has been advising JetZero since early 2026. Hirshberg transformed Deutsch LA into a leading advertising agency and is recognized for his innovative approach in the marketing field.
He remarked, “JetZero is pioneering solutions that will remove significant challenges in the aerospace sector. The all-wing design benefits airlines, the military, travelers, and the environment. This opportunity combines a large market demand with minimal technical risk, and I’m eager to contribute to this ambitious vision.”
