Kamaal R Khan Arrested for Alleged Firing Incident in Andheri
Mumbai Police have detained actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan, known as KRK, in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month in the Andheri area. This arrest comes after an investigation into gunshots that were fired at a residential building where writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives.
Police officials reported that Khan was taken into custody from his studio on Friday night. After initial questioning, he was officially arrested. During the interrogation, Khan admitted to firing four shots from his licensed firearm on January 18. The police have since confiscated the weapon involved.
So far, authorities have not found a clear reason for the shooting. Khan insisted that he did not intend to harm anyone and described the incident as accidental. He explained that he was cleaning his gun and wanted to test it, which led to the shots being fired.
Khan stated that he aimed his weapon at a nearby mangrove area, thinking it was a safe spot. However, he claimed that strong winds changed the direction of one bullet, causing it to hit a residential building in the Oshiwara neighborhood.
Luckily, no one was injured in the incident, though it was confirmed that Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives on the second floor of the affected building, while model Prateek Baid resides on the fourth floor.
Initially, police struggled to identify the shooter, but further technical investigation eventually revealed Khan’s involvement, leading to his arrest.
Khan is currently in police custody as investigators continue to look into the situation. Further actions will depend on the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
