Flight Incident at Toronto Pearson Leaves Passengers Shocked
A frightening situation unfolded aboard an Air Canada flight last month as passengers heard alarming screams from beneath the cabin just before takeoff.
The incident occurred on December 13 when Air Canada Flight 1502 was preparing to leave Toronto Pearson Airport for Moncton, New Brunswick. A ground crew member accidentally became trapped in the aircraft’s cargo hold after the doors closed behind him, according to reports from CBC.
Passengers heard distressing noises, including banging and screams, while the plane was taxiing towards the runway. Flight attendants quickly ran to the rear of the aircraft when alerted by the sounds. One passenger, Gabrielle Caron, shared, “Some of the people sitting at the back could hear the person screaming and banging for help. We could see the crew gathering around the plane, so we knew something was wrong.”
The aircraft came to a halt before reaching the runway, and the trapped crew member was able to exit safely and reassure the passengers that he was unharmed. Air Canada confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.
Caron mentioned that the crew member had been assisting with loading luggage when he became unaccounted for. After ensuring everyone was safe, the flight returned to the terminal. Passengers were asked to disembark as the flight crew completed necessary paperwork, leading to the cancellation of the flight after several delays.
The unsettling experience left many passengers shaken, but fortunately, everyone onboard remained safe.
