Pakistan Bowler Faces Criticism in Big Bash League as David Warner Compares Style to a Toddler

Zaman Khan Faces Scrutiny in Big Bash League Debut

In a recent Big Bash League match, young Pakistani fast bowler Zaman Khan became the center of attention due to his unique bowling style. This came after Australian player David Warner raised questions about the legality of Zaman’s bowling action.

Warner, who scored an impressive 82 runs for Sydney Thunder, was seen signaling towards Zaman and discussing his action with the umpires during the match. These moments caught the audience’s eye and turned the focus away from Zaman’s challenging first performance of the season.

Zaman entered the game early on but struggled to find his rhythm. His first overs were marked by inconsistent deliveries, including several wide balls. Warner seemed unperturbed, easily taking singles and punishing the loose deliveries. He hit a full toss for four runs and dealt with shorter balls, racing towards his sixth fifty in the Big Bash.

When Zaman returned to bowl later in the innings, he tried to use slower balls and wide yorkers, but often missed his target. Sam Billings took advantage of this during the death overs, scoring boundaries after anticipating Zaman’s deliveries. One particularly tough over saw Zaman give away three fours and a wide, as Billings patiently placed his shots.

By the end of his three overs, Zaman had conceded 32 runs without claiming a wicket—a tough start that highlighted both his loss of control and the pressure from seasoned batsmen. Zaman is filling in for the injured Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Brisbane Heat squad, and this match marked his inaugural appearance of the season.

Despite the challenges faced by Zaman and the scrutiny on his bowling action, Brisbane Heat came away with a comfortable victory, winning by seven wickets. Usman Khawaja played a pivotal role in steering the team to victory with a smooth 78-run innings.

This incident also brought back memories of a previous controversy surrounding Pakistan bowler Muhammad Hasnain, whose action was questioned last season after concerns from Marcus Stoinis. Hasnain was suspended and had to remodel his action, which disrupted his international career.

Although no formal action was taken against Zaman during this match, Warner’s reactions ensured that the young bowler’s action became a hot topic, highlighting the intense attention young fast bowlers receive in the Big Bash League.
