Fans Celebrate Lauren Bell’s Impressive Debut for RCB in WPL 2026
Fans of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru were thrilled with Lauren Bell’s remarkable performance in her debut match against the Mumbai Indians at the Women’s Premier League 2026 on January 9. Bell bowled exceptionally well, taking one wicket for just 14 runs in four overs, especially shining during the powerplay.
Previously, Bell had been part of the UP Warriorz but hadn’t played in the league until now. The Royal Challengers acquired her for Rs. 90 Lakh in the WPL 2026 auction, hoping she could replicate the success that Renuka Singh brought last season. Bell certainly delivered, leaving Mumbai’s Amelia Kerr struggling with her exceptional swing bowling.
During her first over, Kerr had a tough time connecting with the ball, resulting in a maiden over. Bell maintained her tight line in the second over, allowing only one run as she continued to dominate. She finally claimed Kerr’s wicket in the third over when Kerr misjudged a delivery and hit it directly to a fielder.
Throughout her spell, Bell allowed just two boundaries and a couple of wides, leading RCB fans to wonder if they’ve found their own version of Josh Hazlewood—a key player in the men’s title win in 2025 known for his precise bowling.
In the end, Mumbai scored 154 runs in their 20 overs, losing six wickets.
