OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health for Enhanced Medical Support
New Delhi: OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Health, a new tool designed to help individuals securely connect their medical records and wellness apps.
The San Francisco-based AI company developed this feature with input from more than 260 doctors across 60 countries. The aim is to provide users with personalized health insights that can make conversations about their health more relevant and useful.
According to OpenAI, “You can securely link your medical records and wellness apps, allowing you to have informed discussions about your health. ChatGPT Health is built to empower users in managing their health while complementing, not replacing, professional medical care.”
This new feature comes as interest in health-related queries on ChatGPT has surged, with over 230 million users worldwide seeking health and wellness information every week. However, OpenAI emphasizes that this tool is not meant for diagnosing or treating medical conditions. Its primary purpose is to help people understand their health over time, preparing them for important medical discussions.
With ChatGPT Health, users can connect various wellness apps such as Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and others. This will assist them in decoding test results, preparing for doctor’s appointments, receiving advice on diet and fitness, and understanding health insurance options.
To enhance the protection of sensitive health data, OpenAI has implemented additional security measures beyond standard ChatGPT safeguards. Users will have the option to delete their chat history within 30 days, and the system is designed not to retain personal information from conversations. For further security, users can enable multi-factor authentication.
The rollout of ChatGPT Health will begin with a select group of early users to refine the experience further. Initially, users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK will have access. OpenAI plans to expand the availability of ChatGPT Health in the coming weeks for all users on web and iOS platforms, although some features and integrations may be limited to the U.S. and require iOS for Apple Health connectivity.
