Virat Kohli received an enthusiastic welcome as he landed in Vadodara on January 7, gearing up for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Fans had been eagerly anticipating his arrival, and as soon as he emerged from the airport, excitement filled the air. The crowd erupted in chants of “Kohli, Kohli,” as security increased and phones were raised for selfies, making it difficult for him to reach his vehicle. This scene showcased Kohli’s strong presence, particularly among his home supporters.
Kohli enters this series riding high on his recent performance. He showcased his skills by scoring a half-century in his last ODI in Australia. In a prior home series against South Africa, he further demonstrated his batting prowess with two centuries and another fifty. His form has also shown in domestic cricket, where he contributed significantly for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, hitting both a century and a fifty.
With his focus now on ODIs after stepping back from T20Is and Tests, Kohli continues to remind everyone why he is one of the best batters around. The first ODI is set to be held in Vadodara on January 11, with subsequent matches in Rajkot and Indore on January 14 and 18, respectively.
