Activists Call for Action on Pune Land Scam
MUMBAI: Activists Anjali Damania and Vijay Kumbhar have urged the police to file a First Information Report (FIR) against Parth Pawar, as well as asking Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to resign in connection with a land scam in Pune. They claim that, despite providing evidence and filing complaints, authorities have not taken any action.
At a press conference, the activists revealed text messages exchanged between an advocate discussing land deals, Ajit Pawar’s personal assistants, and other officials. Damania stated that these messages were shared with both the police and the activists by advocate Trupti Thakur.
The activists presented a power of attorney document signed by Parth Pawar and Sheetal Tejwani, who has been arrested in the case. Tejwani represents the original holders of a land parcel in Mundhwa, and they also showed an authority letter from Digvijay Patil, who authorized Thakur to act on behalf of Amadea Enterprises concerning the land issues.
Damania and Kumbhar have written to Chief Minister Fadnavis, requesting the inclusion of Parth Pawar’s name in the FIR and calling for Ajit Pawar’s resignation. They warned that if no action is taken, they may approach the High Court to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), naming CM Fadnavis as a respondent for failing to address the allegations against the Pawar family.
Allegations include another power of attorney signed in May 2021, linking Parth Pawar and Tejwani. Parth Pawar did not respond to requests for comments. Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) dismissed Damania’s claims. NCP spokesperson Anand Paranjpe pointed out that Damania’s accusations remain unproven in court.
