Iran Launches Ballistic and Cruise Missiles During Persian Gulf Exercises: Report

Iran Conducts Missile Exercises Near Persian Gulf

Iran’s military recently conducted a drill, launching ballistic and cruise missiles at simulated targets in the Gulf of Oman. This exercise, led by the Revolutionary Guards Navy, aimed to show Iran’s readiness against potential foreign threats.

The drills began on Thursday in the strategic Strait of Hormuz and continued into Friday. State media highlighted that missiles, including the Qadr 110, Qadr 360, and Qadr 380, were successfully fired and struck their intended targets.

Iran’s state media described the exercises as a display of the “unwavering spirit and resistance” of its naval forces. This drill is the second following a recent conflict with Israel, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides.

Since the conflict’s end, Iran has been vocal about its capability to respond to any future Israeli actions. The Revolutionary Guard is primarily responsible for operations in the Persian Gulf, while the national navy oversees areas further afield.

There’s been a longstanding threat from Iran to potentially close the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global oil shipping. The U.S. has maintained a naval presence in the region to ensure safe passage through these waters.
