S. S. Rajamouli held a significant event in Hyderabad, attended by notable figures including M. M. Keeravani, Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. During the gathering, Rajamouli revealed exciting news: his upcoming film, Varanasi, will be the first Indian movie specifically filmed for IMAX.
At the event, Rajamouli took the stage to clarify the difference between traditional IMAX films and his project. He explained that many features marketed as IMAX are merely resized for the screen, stating, “That is not true IMAX.” Unlike his previous works like Baahubali and RRR, which were produced in a different format, Varanasi is designed to take full advantage of the expansive IMAX experience. He enthusiastically shared, “Our film will be screened full screen. It is filmed for IMAX!”
Proud of this advancement in Telugu cinema, Rajamouli introduced the concept of premium large-scale formats to the audience. The atmosphere was electric, and he asked his team for the trailer in the full-screen format. Unfortunately, technical difficulties occurred, causing a brief delay. Rajamouli apologized, but when the trailer finally played, it received overwhelming applause.
Prithviraj Sukumaran also shared his experience of being cast in the film. He described the impactful storytelling during the narration, saying, “Five minutes in, I was captivated. For the next three hours, I felt like a child engrossed in a new comic book! The scale and vision displayed are truly groundbreaking.”
