Siddhant Chaturvedi, known for his impressive debut in Gully Boy (2019), continues to capture the attention of audiences with his recent performance in Dhadak 2 (2025). He’s now set to take on an exciting new role in a film that celebrates the famous filmmaker, actor, producer, and writer, V. Shantaram. This upcoming project is titled Chitrapati V Shantaram, and Siddhant will play the lead role.
According to sources, this film signifies a major milestone in Siddhant’s career, described as both his biggest and most ambitious project thus far. The filmmakers were motivated to cast him based on his previous work, which showcases his incredible talent. Currently, the film is in the pre-production phase, and Siddhant is dedicating himself to embodying the character fully.
The biopic aims to highlight V. Shantaram’s substantial contributions to Indian cinema, aiming to educate newer generations about his legacy. Born into poverty in Kolhapur, V. Shantaram learned filmmaking from Baburao Painter in Pune and made a lasting impact on Hindi films with classics like Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje (1955) and Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957). Notably, he was a trailblazer—he was among the first to feature women prominently in films, sell music rights, and experiment with color filmmaking. His works, produced at Prabhat Studios, received accolades at international film festivals in Cannes, Venice, and Berlin, and he was awarded a Golden Globe in 1959. Furthermore, Charlie Chaplin once praised his work, and he had a notable rivalry with leading filmmakers of Mumbai. The film promises to be both educational and entertaining, shedding light on a pivotal figure in the film industry.
