Veteran Actor Satish Shah Passes Away at 73
Renowned actor Satish Shah, a prominent figure in Indian cinema and television, sadly passed away on Saturday, October 25, due to kidney failure. He was 73 years old. While his family has yet to issue an official statement, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news on social media, expressing his sorrow over the loss.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), Pandit wrote, “I am sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and great actor Satish Shah has passed away a few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja hospital, where he took his last breath. This is a significant loss for our industry. Om Shanti.” Many fans, friends, and colleagues in the entertainment world quickly responded with messages of condolence.
Satish Ravilal Shah was cherished for his impeccable comedic skills and versatility. He left a lasting impact through his performances in iconic Hindi films, such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Main Hoon Na (2004), Fanaa (2006), and Om Shanti Om (2007), among others.
Beyond his film work, Shah was loved for his role in television. He became a household name with the beloved sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984) and the hit show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004), where his character, Indravadan Sarabhai, won over viewers of all ages. He also appeared in Filmi Chakkar (1993) and co-judged Comedy Circus alongside Archana Puran Singh in 2008.
In 2015, he was appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) society, highlighting his significant contributions to the entertainment industry.
