Legal Battle Over Sunjay Kapur’s Estate Heats Up in Delhi High Court
The legal conflict surrounding the inheritance left by the late businessman Sunjay Kapur is now under scrutiny in the Delhi High Court. His children, Kiaan Raj Kapoor and Samara Kapoor, who are also the kids of actress Karisma Kapoor, have raised doubts about the legitimacy of their father’s will. They have voiced serious concerns through their legal representative, claiming that their stepmother, Priya Sachdev, may have tampered with the document.
Children Question the Will’s Authenticity
With support from senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, Kiaan and Samara have filed a lawsuit against Priya, alleging that the will may have been forged. Their legal team highlighted several errors, such as the misspelling of Kiaan’s name and an inaccuracy in Samara’s address. “These mistakes are significant. Sunjay had a close bond with his children, making it improbable that he would have made such errors. The nature of these inconsistencies raises critical questions about his involvement in the will’s creation,” Jethmalani stated in court.
Claims of Favoritism in the Will
While Karisma Kapoor is not directly involved in the lawsuit, it is understood that she backs her children’s efforts. The legal team further pointed out that the will seems to benefit only Priya Sachdev, with no mention of any other beneficiaries. “If this document is found to be forged, then it suggests that only one person had a reason to manipulate it this way,” Jethmalani added. The court has scheduled further hearings on the matter for Tuesday.
Previous Concerns About Priya Sachdev
This is not the first time serious concerns about Priya Sachdev have been raised. In court on October 9, Kiaan and Samara likened her to “Cinderella’s evil stepmother,” indicating they feel they are being treated unfairly regarding their inheritance.
On September 26, the court permitted Priya to disclose a list of Sunjay Kapur’s assets in a confidential manner. The court also urged all parties to avoid disclosing sensitive details to the media to protect the integrity of the ongoing legal process.
