On October 8, 2025, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region will witness a significant event as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates two eagerly anticipated infrastructure projects: the Navi Mumbai International Airport and the third phase of the underground Mumbai Metro. He will also attend the Global Fintech Fest in Bandra Kurla Complex alongside UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer.
In an exciting twist, it has been confirmed that Keir Starmer will visit Yash Raj Films (YRF) Studios in Andheri. This news was shared by Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the FICCI Frames 2025 event in Mumbai on October 7. Although the specifics of Starmer’s visit remain unclear, sources indicate that he wanted to explore a Hindi film studio while in Bollywood, and YRF, being one of the largest and most prominent, was suggested.
Sanjay Jaju emphasized the importance of international collaborations, stating, “The Prime Minister of the UK is coming to Mumbai tomorrow. He’s also visiting Yash Raj Studios.” He noted that India has co-production treaties with about 17 countries and has begun offering incentives to encourage filmmakers to create content that can appeal to global audiences.
This won’t be the first time a world leader visits YRF Studios. Just last year, Spanish President Pedro Sanchez had a meeting there with YRF’s CEO, Akshaye Widhani, where they discussed YRF’s 50-year legacy and future prospects for Indian cinema. Moreover, in December 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met with various filmmakers at YRF, and even visited the sets of the film Ra.One during shooting.
The upcoming visit highlights not only the growing ties between nations but also the increasing interest in India’s thriving film industry.
