Israel’s Military Steps Up Preparations for Trump’s Hostage Release Strategy

Israel Prepares for Hostage Release Plan Following Hamas Agreement

On Saturday, Israel’s military announced preparations to implement the first phase of a plan proposed by former President Donald Trump for the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

This decision follows Hamas’ statement on Friday agreeing to release all Israeli hostages, regardless of whether they are alive or deceased, as part of a peace proposal put forth by Trump. Shortly after, Trump shared a video from the Oval Office, expressing optimism about the potential peace deal, stating he believes they are “very close” to a resolution.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared that the Chief of General Staff held a meeting to assess the situation, emphasizing the importance of readiness for implementing the Trump plan. They noted that while advancing these plans, the safety of IDF troops remains a top priority. The IDF aims to ensure that all troops remain vigilant and ready to respond to any threats.

An official reported that Israeli forces have transitioned to a defensive stance within Gaza, avoiding active military engagements. No IDF resources have been withdrawn from the area.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social, expressed appreciation that Israel has paused military actions to allow time for the hostage release and peace negotiations. He cautioned Hamas to act swiftly, warning that delays could jeopardize the process. He strongly insisted that any further threats from Gaza would not be tolerated.

Last week, Trump presented a 20-point plan aimed at achieving peace in the region. The plan calls for an end to Israeli military operations, the disarmament of Hamas, and a reconstruction of Gaza under a Palestinian administration supported by an international coalition led by the United States.

In his fervent statements, Trump emphasized the urgency of reaching an agreement with Hamas by Sunday evening, highlighting the importance of releasing all hostages immediately. He warned that failure to come to terms could lead to serious consequences for Hamas, expressing a firm belief that peace in the Middle East is achievable.
