UK Government Appeals to Cancel Protests After Deadly Synagogue Attack
The British government and police have requested that organizers of a scheduled anti-Israel protest reconsider their plans following a tragic attack at a Manchester synagogue. The attack was carried out by Jihad Al Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian origin. Authorities reported that police shot and killed Al Shamie in an effort to stop the attack.
Criticism of government action has emerged from community leaders. Gideon Falter, head of the Campaign Against Antisemitism, voiced his outrage over the incident, highlighting a perceived failure to protect the Jewish community amidst rising antisemitism.
