Just a few days after leading India to a thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, star bowler Jasprit Bumrah returned to the pitch for a Test match. He played for India in the opening Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Bumrah, who put on an impressive performance in the Asia Cup final last Sunday, had little time to rest before switching to Test cricket. His return was a huge boost for India as they aimed to kick off the home season of the new World Test Championship cycle successfully.
At 31, Bumrah has become India’s main bowler across all formats, taking on a lot of responsibility in recent years. Despite concerns about managing his workload, the team management showed their confidence in him by giving him the start in this Test match, highlighting his importance to both limited-overs and Test formats.
