SALT LAKE CITY — Homebuilding in Utah is getting a boost from new technology designed to save money while maintaining quality.
Paige Flora and her family recently returned to Utah to build their ideal home. Having gone through the process before, Paige found this experience was different in a positive way.
“It was such a wonderful experience compared to what we’ve done in the past,” she said.
The major improvement this time around? A digital tool known as the Vibe Board.
Used by Raykon Construction, a Utah-based company, the Vibe Board allows homeowners, designers, and contractors to work together more smoothly, helping to identify potential problems early on. This cuts down on miscommunication and avoids costly mistakes.
“It was great to catch a lot of these problems ahead of time,” Paige added.
As housing prices continue to climb, innovations like this are becoming increasingly important. Utah ranks as the ninth most expensive state for homebuyers, with custom homes particularly pricey. Experts say this is often due to changes customers want to make after construction has started.
Gabe Nogueras, VP of Revenue and Strategy at Vibe, notes that the high demand in Utah’s fast-moving market led to the creation of this technology.
“There is so much demand in this market, and it’s moving quickly. We need the right tools to keep up,” he explained.
Currently, over 1,200 builders across the country are using Vibe Board, including many in Utah.
Jordan Coleman from Raykon believes the tool is transforming teamwork in construction.
“It’s like having a living document that stays with the project and the construction team,” he said.
For homeowners, this technology also brings peace of mind.
“It’s much more enjoyable to know the cost of things like the car carousel or the deck upfront,” Coleman noted. “It’s better than discovering later that it will cost an extra million dollars.”
