Brutal Workplace Incident in Dallas
In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old Indian man from Karnataka was killed at his workplace in East Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday. The tragic event occurred in front of his wife and teenage son during a dispute over a broken washing machine.
Chandra Nagamallaiah worked as a manager at the Downtown Suites motel on Samuell Boulevard for over two years. The conflict reportedly started when he asked 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez not to use the malfunctioning washer. The argument escalated quickly, resulting in Cobos-Martinez allegedly stabbing Nagamallaiah multiple times and pursuing him toward the motel’s front office.
Witnesses, including Nagamallaiah’s family, were left horrified as Cobos-Martinez committed the brutal act, including beheading him and disposing of his head in a dumpster. Security cameras recorded the horrific scene, showing bloodied footprints leading from a motel room.
The police apprehended Cobos-Martinez at the scene, where they found evidence linking him to the crime, including a machete and Nagamallaiah’s belongings. He later confessed during questioning.
Cobos-Martinez is currently being held on immigration charges and has a history of violent crimes. He was previously convicted in California and had multiple arrests in other states. Despite having a removal order, he had been released earlier this year due to complications regarding deportation to Cuba.
The Indian High Commission in Houston expressed deep sorrow over Nagamallaiah’s death, reassuring that they are providing assistance to the family. They confirmed that authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) called the murder “unthinkable,” stating that Cobos-Martinez shouldn’t have been free given his background. He is now charged with capital murder and remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail. Detectives are investigating further evidence at the motel.
