Luxury Yacht Sinks in Turkey Soon After Launch
A dramatic scene unfolded recently as a brand-new luxury yacht sank just minutes after its launch in Turkey. This incident occurred off the coast of Zonguldak, a port city along the Black Sea.
The $1 million yacht, named Dolce Vento, measured 85 feet long. Video footage captured by bystanders shows the yacht being launched into the water when it suddenly began to tilt violently about 15 minutes into its journey. The crew members quickly scrambled to safety, jumping into the water as the vessel took on water.
In the footage, a man in a suit can be seen leaping off the side of the swaying yacht into the sea. Chaos ensued as those on board tried to maintain their balance before the situation became dire.
Emergency teams, including the Turkish Coast Guard, swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and cordon off the area around the capsized vessel.
According to Med Yilmaz, a spokesperson for the shipyard that built the yacht, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the sinking. Experts will examine if it was a construction flaw, a balance issue, or human error that led to the yacht’s abrupt failure.
The Turkish Coast Guard has yet to provide further details about the incident.
