Infosys Adjusts Evening Bus Schedule for Employees in Bengaluru

Infosys, a leading Indian IT company, has modified the evening bus departure times at its Electronic City campus in Bengaluru. This change comes in response to employee feedback regarding long travel times and its impact on work.

Starting September 1, 2023, the internal shuttle service will leave at 4 PM and 6 PM instead of the previous 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. The decision aims to address issues employees face during peak traffic hours, which often disrupt client calls and productivity, especially for those working with teams in the US.

An employee shared their experience, noting that the 5:30 PM bus often led to journeys taking over 90 minutes. This delay made it hard to take important calls or manage work effectively while commuting. Recognizing these challenges, Infosys hopes that the new travel times will help employees engage more efficiently in their professional duties.

Traffic Challenges in Bengaluru

Bengaluru continues to struggle with heavy traffic. Even with the recent introduction of the 19-km Yellow Line Metro, road congestion persists. Some metro stations, like Konappana Agrahara and Hebbagodi, were developed with financial support from Infosys and Biocon. The company encourages its staff to utilize the shuttle service to help alleviate congestion both in the city and around its campus.

Work-life Balance

Infosys employees typically work for 9.15 hours each day. The company launched a return-to-office policy in November 2023, which requires employees to be in the office for at least 10 days each month. With a workforce of over 323,500, adjustments like bus schedule changes reflect Infosys’s commitment to balancing employee needs with client demands globally.
