Mayoori Kango: From Screen Star to Corporate Leader
You might remember Mayoori Kango, the charming actress who made her debut in Bollywood with Papa Kehte Hain in 1996 alongside Jugal Hansraj. While her time in films was brief, she has embarked on an exciting new chapter in her career. Mayoori is now making a name for herself in the corporate world as she rejoins Publicis Groupe in a significant position.
As reported on her LinkedIn profile, Mayoori has joined the global executive leadership team at Publicis Global Delivery (PGD) and has stepped into the role of CEO for the company’s Delivery Center in India. This marks a remarkable transformation from being a silver screen starlet to a leading figure in the corporate arena.
In her announcement, she expressed her excitement: “I’m thrilled to share that I’ve rejoined Publicis Groupe as part of the global executive leadership team. In this role, I will work with the PGD Global team to enhance our global solutions across media, technology, and digital services, while boosting our AI practices. I’m grateful for the warm welcome back and eager for what lies ahead.”
This isn’t her first brush with the advertising industry. Mayoori previously worked as Managing Director at Performics, an agency under Publicis, before taking on other roles, including a position at Google.
For fans of Bollywood, she will always be remembered as the girl from Papa Kehte Hain. Though she appeared in other films like Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet (1999) and several television shows, her acting career didn’t soar to great heights. By the mid-2000s, Mayoori shifted focus from acting, completed her MBA in 2007, and steadily built a successful corporate career. Today, she is a prominent figure in advertising and digital media, far removed from her singing and dancing days of the ’90s.
So, if you’ve ever found yourself wondering about the girl from Papa Kehte Hain, she’s now busy steering boardrooms instead of film sets.
