Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Launches New Aid Reservation Program
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a U.S.-supported organization, is introducing a new pilot program that allows families in Gaza to reserve aid parcels ahead of time. This initiative aims to simplify the process of receiving food aid, making it more dignified and orderly.
According to GHF, the current method, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis, often puts vulnerable groups—such as women, children, the elderly, and those with disabilities—at a disadvantage. Younger men often reach the aid distributions first.
“This is a significant step forward,” said GHF Executive Director John Acree. “It shows that our approach is effective and highlights our dedication to meeting the needs of the community in Gaza.”
The new program began in the Saudi Neighborhood with 350 participants and will expand as more distribution sites are established. It includes women-only days and lanes, responding to community feedback and modeled on successful programs from other humanitarian organizations.
Participants will have their photo taken and receive a unique identification card, allowing them to reserve a box of aid on specific days. This way, they can avoid the rush at distribution sites.
“It has always been our goal to let families reserve aid in advance,” Acree remarked. “Until now, conditions in Gaza made that difficult. With increased aid flowing in, we’re proud to meet the community’s requests to make aid distribution easier and more reliable.”
Emergency aid will still be accessible to those not in the program, and GHF ensures the privacy and security of all participant data.
Since its launch on May 27, GHF has partnered with local organizations to deliver nearly 125 million meals to the people of Gaza. Recently, during a visit to Scotland, President Trump emphasized the importance of getting food to Gaza safely and efficiently.
With at least $30 million in U.S. contributions funneled through GHF, the organization aims to deliver aid directly to those in need, minimizing the risk of it being misappropriated by groups like Hamas.
By providing this new program, GHF is making strides towards ensuring that vulnerable populations in Gaza receive the assistance they need.
