Israel Strikes Back: Targeting Key Figure in October 7 Kidnapping During Gaza Assault

Israeli Airstrike Targets Terrorist Linked to October 7 Attack

Israel recently announced that an airstrike in Gaza successfully eliminated a terrorist involved in a kidnapping incident during the deadly attack on October 7, 2023. The operation took place on August 10 and resulted in the death of Jihad Kamal Salem Najjar, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet, the country’s internal security agency.

Yarden Bibas, a victim of the kidnapping, expressed gratitude to the IDF and Shin Bet in a statement. He noted that this action brought him a sense of closure regarding the terrorist’s role in his abduction. Bibas stated, “Thanks to you, he will not be able to harm anyone else.” Bibas is now focused on the safe return of his friends and other hostages still in captivity.

Najjar was involved in the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where Bibas was taken hostage. Tragically, Bibas’ family was also kidnapped; his wife and children were murdered while in Hamas custody. Bibas endured 480 days as a hostage before his release in January. During captivity, he was forced to make a video in which he broke down while discussing his family’s fate.

Bibas’ family has become a symbol of the impact of Hamas’ actions, with footage of his wife and children circulated widely online, highlighting the tragedy they faced. Upon Bibas’ release, his family remarked that while he had come home, their family was still not whole.

The IDF continues to seek justice for the victims, emphasizing that there can be no victory until all hostages return home safely. In a similar operation earlier this year, Israel targeted and killed another high-ranking member of a terrorist group responsible for attacks on the same kibbutz.

As the situation develops, the focus remains on the ongoing efforts to bring home those still missing and address the devastation caused by such acts of violence.
