Madison to Host Menstrual Health Series
MADISON, Wis. — The Madison Public Library, in partnership with Public Health Madison and Dane County, is set to launch a series on menstrual health at the Goodman South Madison Library next month. This initiative is now entering its third year.
“Young people and families have lots of questions about menstrual health, and we want to provide answers in a supportive environment. We’ve seen a growing need in the community, so we decided to expand this program,” said Rachel Lavender, the youth services librarian.
The series, known as the Period Party, will feature multiple sessions centered around different topics. Participants are encouraged to register before attending each event.
Health department staff will lead informative presentations followed by a question-and-answer segment. “Periods shouldn’t be a mystery. Our aim is to bust common myths and reduce the stigma around menstruation. We will share valuable information about periods, their purpose, and how to use menstrual products,” stated Melissa Her, the Sexual & Reproductive Health Coordinator.
The series will wrap up on September 20 with an informal resource fair at The Atrium at Villager Mall, where attendees can collect giveaways and additional information.
