Marjorie Taylor Greene Critiques Zelenskyy Amid Peace Talks
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia has expressed strong criticism towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She alleges that Zelenskyy is attempting to disrupt upcoming peace talks between former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin by launching drone strikes on Russia.
Her remarks were in response to a report on X (formerly Twitter) that indicated Ukraine had conducted one of its largest drone attacks on Russia just before the crucial talks. Greene stated, “On the eve of the historic peace talks between President Trump and President Putin, Zelenskyy does this. It’s clear he doesn’t want peace and is trying to sabotage the efforts to end the war in Ukraine. I hope peace prevails.”

Zelenskyy Pushes for Direct Talks with Putin
As tensions rise, Zelenskyy has called for direct discussions with Putin, while Trump plans to meet with the Russian leader in Anchorage, Alaska, for a pivotal summit set for Friday. This will be Putin’s first visit to the U.S. since 2015, marking the first U.S.-Russia summit since June 2021.
In a display of escalating hostilities, Ukraine launched multiple drone strikes into Russia overnight, impacting several residential areas in Rostov-on-Don and injuring numerous civilians, according to local authorities. The injury toll includes two individuals in serious condition.
These strikes were reportedly retaliations following Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Sumy region, which resulted in several injuries, including that of a young girl.
Despite the ongoing violence, Trump and Putin are still scheduled to meet. On Thursday, Putin praised the United States for its efforts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He noted that the U.S. is making “sincere efforts” to halt the war and reach agreements beneficial to all parties involved.
In contrast, Zelenskyy has accused Russia of not demonstrating genuine intentions towards peace. He stressed the importance of continued pressure on Russia to achieve a fair resolution to the conflict and emphasized the need for collaboration between Ukraine, the U.S., Europe, and others Dedicated to peace.
Zelenskyy stated, “This war must be ended. Our coordinated efforts can definitely compel Russia to make peace.”
