Sanju Samson’s Future at Rajasthan Royals in Question
Former Chennai Super Kings player Subramaniam Badrinath recently talked about the rumors surrounding Sanju Samson’s potential departure from the Rajasthan Royals. He suggested that these speculations could be linked to changes in leadership, particularly with the franchise considering Riyan Parag as a possible captain.
Reports indicate that Samson may be looking for a new team, especially since his batting position has shifted to No. 3 due to the impressive performances of young players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Samson reportedly isn’t keen on the No. 3 spot, and Badrinath discussed this on his YouTube channel, pointing out that it could be a significant reason for Samson’s potential exit from the team he has been with for ten years.
Badrinath raised an important question, saying, “If Riyan Parag is in line for captaincy, how do you expect someone like Samson to stay?”
Last season, Samson faced a side strain that led him to miss several matches, allowing Parag to step in as captain. Unfortunately, the team had a disappointing season, finishing ninth in the standings.
What if Samson Joins CSK?
Another topic Badrinath touched upon is where Samson might fit in if he moves to Chennai Super Kings. He believes Samson could be a great replacement for MS Dhoni, but batting lower down the order might not work well for him.
CSK’s top and middle order currently features names like Ayush Mhatre, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dewald Brevis, and Shivam Dube, making it unclear where Samson would slot in if he were to join the team.
“If Sanju Samson arrives at CSK, he could serve as a direct replacement for MS Dhoni. He usually bats in the top three or four spots, not in the lower order. CSK already has strong players in those positions. Mhatre, Gaikwad, and Brevis are all quite settled,” Badrinath noted.
He also expressed uncertainty about whether CSK would make a trade similar to MI’s acquisition of Hardik Pandya from GT. This raises further questions about how Samson would fit into CSK’s lineup if he were to make the move.
