Zelenskyy: Ukraine Will Defend Its Land, No Gifts for Moscow Before Trump-Putin Meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Saturday that Ukraine would not give up any territory to Russia as discussions about a peace deal continue. This announcement comes ahead of a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin set for next week.

In a video shared on social media, Zelenskyy expressed his readiness to end the conflict but firmly stated that Ukraine would not “gift” land to Russia. He highlighted that the issue of Ukrainian territory is clearly outlined in the country’s Constitution and emphasized that no one will be able to change that commitment.

Trump recently mentioned the upcoming summit, indicating that a peace deal might involve “swapping of territories.”

In response to Zelenskyy’s stance, a White House spokesperson shared that President Trump is open to having a trilateral meeting with both Zelenskyy and Putin. However, the focus is currently on organizing a bilateral meeting with Putin, as they work out details.

Earlier, a White House spokeswoman noted that the Russians have shown interest in meeting with Trump, and he is eager to end the ongoing war, which has lasted over three years since Russia’s invasion in 2022.

Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, commented that the idea of a trilateral meeting was mentioned but not formally discussed. He stated they prefer to concentrate on preparing for a successful bilateral meeting with Trump.

As the Alaska meeting approaches, there is a growing anticipation around potential breakthroughs in this long-standing conflict.
