Tim David Shatters T20I Record in Australia’s Victory Over South Africa
In an electrifying performance, Tim David hit eight sixes and scored 83 runs off 52 balls during the first T20I at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on Sunday. His incredible display set a new record for the most sixes by an Australian batsman in a T20I match against South Africa.
The previous record was held by David Warner, who cracked six sixes while scoring 89 runs in Melbourne back in 2009. David Hussey matched that feat later the same year with an unbeaten 88 runs in Johannesburg. Fast forward to recent encounters, and in September 2023, both Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head also hit six sixes during their innings in Durban.

Australia’s Resilient Performance
Tim David’s efforts were crucial in lifting Australia from a tough position of 75 for 6 in just 7.4 overs. He found valuable support from Ben Dwarshuis, who contributed 17 runs off 19 balls. Their partnership of 59 runs for the seventh wicket helped steer Australia to a total of 178 runs in 20 overs.
David’s recent form has been impressive. Just last month, he made headlines by scoring the fastest T20I century by an Australian. He achieved this in just 37 balls against the West Indies, showcasing his explosive batting with 11 sixes and six fours, leading Australia to a six-wicket victory in St Kitts.
