The box office in the Telugu film industry is buzzing with excitement as two major films, War 2 and Coolie, go head-to-head in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. According to insiders, major players Asian Cinemas and Sitara Entertainment are fiercely competing for the best showtimes in these regions.
Reports suggest that War 2, featuring NTR Jr. in the lead role, is likely to dominate the screen share in these states. A source mentioned, “While Coolie is making an effort to secure a good presence, the general consensus favors War 2 because of NTR Jr.’s massive popularity. The competition between the two films won’t last long, and War 2 will likely take up about 62 percent of the screens.”
Exhibitors in the region are showing a preference for NTR Jr., a star with significant influence. The source added, “No one wants to go against NTR Jr. or Naga Vamsi. So, exhibitors are leaning towards giving War 2 the advantage in screen allocation.” Asian Cinemas is pushing for a 60:40 screen division, while Sitara Entertainment aims for a 70:30 split in their favor for Coolie.
In North India, War 2 is also expected to gain a clear edge over Coolie, as the studio Yash Raj Films, along with local distributors, is committed to showcasing the film properly. The buzz around NTR Jr.’s star power is proving advantageous, allowing him to secure premium showcasing even against big names like Rajinikanth.
