The new Hollywood film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is gearing up for a solid opening in India. Despite some concerns about limited buzz among Indian audiences and the strong presence of last week’s hit, Saiyaara, the film has exceeded expectations with its advance ticket sales.
As of Thursday night, approximately 50,000 tickets have been sold across major cinema chains like PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. This is a commendable number given the competition. Factors contributing to this success include the star power of its cast, a robust promotional campaign, and favorable reviews from Western critics, which have generated curiosity among viewers. Although the Marvel brand doesn’t hold the same dominance as it once did, excitement around upcoming films like Thunderbolts hints at a resurgence for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In comparison, the recently released Superman sold 56,000 tickets during its opening. If The Fantastic Four: First Steps continues to perform well, it has a shot at surpassing Superman‘s opening day earnings of ₹7.20 crores. While this may be challenging, achieving over ₹6.50 crores during a time when Saiyaara is popular is an significant accomplishment. Notably, Thunderbolts debuted with ₹4 crores, making Fantastic Four‘s numbers look even better.
Hollywood has been thriving at the box office lately, starting with hits like F1: The Movie, followed by Jurassic World: Rebirth and Superman. If The Fantastic Four: First Steps maintains its momentum over the weekend and into the weekdays, it could be the fourth big hit from Hollywood this season.
Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, the film is expected to earn around $100 million in North America and another $90 to $100 million internationally, totaling nearly $200 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
