President Trump Signs Major Tax and Spending Bill

On Friday, President Donald Trump signed a comprehensive tax and spending package into law, following its narrow approval from Congress last week. This legislation keeps Trump’s second-term goals on track and opens the door for significant changes in corporate taxes, consumer spending, and investments in technology.

The financial markets responded positively, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 reaching new record highs, buoyed by encouraging economic data and the stability the new policy brings to investors.

In a surprising move, Trump also announced a new trade agreement with Vietnam. This deal introduces notable tariffs—20% on Vietnamese imports and 40% on goods transshipped through the country. However, it also grants U.S. companies complete access to Vietnam’s domestic market, a big win for American exporters, especially in the fields of consumer technology and electronics.

Tech Update

Nvidia Corporation’s CEO, Jensen Huang, recently reported that the company’s stock closed at $159.34 on Thursday, just shy of a historic $4 trillion market cap. If it reaches $164, Nvidia will become the first chipmaker and only the second U.S. company after Microsoft to achieve this milestone.

Apple is set to introduce a feature in its upcoming iOS 26 that will help reduce spam by automatically filtering out unwanted texts in the Messages app.

Alphabet’s Google is facing an antitrust complaint from independent publishers in the European Union over its AI Overviews feature, which provides AI-generated summaries above traditional links in search results.

In partnership news, Alibaba Group Holding Limited announced a collaboration with Wix.com to make global commerce easier for small businesses in over 200 markets. Additionally, Alibaba is pricing HK$12.023 billion ($1.5 billion) in zero-coupon exchangeable bonds due in 2032, to support its growth in artificial intelligence and cloud services.

Also, President Trump indicated that U.S.-China negotiations are set to resume soon regarding a potential deal involving TikTok’s operations in the U.S.

The AI Landscape

According to OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, AI is now capable of performing tasks typically done by entry-level employees. Many Gen Z workers see AI as a helpful companion in the workplace rather than as competition, with tech leaders suggesting that the first billion-dollar one-person company could emerge as soon as next year.

Analysts believe Apple might have the upper hand over Meta Platforms’ Ray-Ban smart glasses. Investors are eager to see Apple’s commitment to artificial intelligence, with reports suggesting the company might be looking to utilize large language models from OpenAI or Anthropic for a revamped Siri by spring 2026.

Automotive and Airline News

Boeing has secured a $2.8 billion contract with the U.S. Space Force to develop strategic satellite communications systems. This project, known as the Evolved Strategic Satellite Communications (ESS) program, will deliver two satellites, with options for two more.

In Tesla news, the company reported its second-quarter production and delivery numbers for 2025, showing 410,244 vehicles produced and 384,122 delivered globally, primarily from the Model 3/Y. Tesla also noted a deployment of 9.6 GWh of its energy storage products.

Lucid Group produced 3,863 vehicles in the second quarter, an increase from 2,212 in the first quarter. Rivian Automotive delivered 10,661 vehicles from its Normal, Illinois plant and maintained its full-year delivery guidance of 40,000 to 46,000 vehicles despite plans to reduce output for its 2026 lineup.

NIO shipped 24,925 units in June, which marks a 17.5% year-over-year growth. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is considering options to sell its vehicles internationally, as announced by CEO Lei Jun during a recent livestream.

Closing Note

Stay tuned for more updates as these developments in finance, technology, and the automotive industry continue to unfold.
