Rohit Sharma faced a tough time during the recent ODI series in England, struggling with his batting performance. However, he found an unexpected boost from a special gift from his friend and fellow cricketer, Shardul Thakur.
In his show, “Family Full House with Rohit Sharma,” Rohit shared how the first two matches of the series didn’t go well for him. He managed to score only 11 and 26 runs, leaving him in need of a comeback. When the final match at the iconic Lord’s arrived, the pressure was on him to deliver. Rohit rose to the occasion, scoring a fantastic 138 runs, marking his first century at Lord’s and helping India finish the series on a high note.
What made the innings even more special was the story behind the bat he used. Rohit revealed that Shardul had gifted him the bat just before the match, which turned out to be a significant part of his success that day. He said, “In the last ODI series we played, the bat I scored runs with in the final match was given to me by Shardul.”
Rohit further explained that Shardul often receives bats as a bowler and joked that he sometimes ends up with even better ones than many batsmen. A simple gesture of friendship turned into an unforgettable moment for Rohit, as he not only performed exceptionally but also got to etch his name on the Honours board at the Home of Cricket.
