India and Pakistan are gearing up for an exciting showdown at the World Championship of Legends, marking the first encounter since Operation Sindoor. This much-anticipated match will take place on July 20 in Edgbaston, UK, featuring a mix of seasoned players from both nations.

On the Indian side, cricket fans can look forward to seeing stars like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, and Irfan Pathan in action. From the Pakistan team, the spotlight will be on Shahid Afridi, a player known for his spirited performances as well as his controversial remarks about India. Recently, Afridi has faced backlash on social media for his comments, which many deemed inappropriate.

Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani cricketer, did not hold back in criticizing Afridi for his remarks made after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack. Kaneria spotlighted Afridi’s surprising assertions that India orchestrated the attack and shifted the blame onto Pakistan.

Afridi’s statements gained traction online after he made claims regarding the attack that tragically took the lives of 26 innocents. He stated, “The terrorists killed people for an hour, and not a single Indian soldier showed up. But when they finally did, they blamed Pakistan.” He further suggested that India might engage in self-inflicted harm and then accuse Pakistan.

In defending Pakistan, Afridi emphasized that his country seeks peace with India, stating, “No country or religion supports terrorism. We always advocate for peace.” He recalled the challenges faced before traveling to India for sports events, citing his concerns when he was captain during the 2016 T20 World Cup. He remarked on sports diplomacy, pointing out the complexities involved in cricket relations between the two nations.

Looking back at past encounters between India and Pakistan, this match is not their first face-off since Operation Sindoor. A notable incident occurred during the Junior Davis Cup on May 24, when an unsportsmanlike handshake highlighted the tension after India won against Pakistan in the U16 tournament. A clip from the event showed a Pakistani player initially failing to properly shake hands with his Indian counterpart before ultimately doing so in a disrespectful manner.

As anticipation builds for this historic match, fans from both countries are ready for what promises to be an eventful contest on the cricket field.
