Heavy Rainfall Triggers Red Alert in Himachal Pradesh
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised a red alert for Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall causing severe flooding in the Beas River, prompting concerns among local officials.
On Sunday, the IMD forecasted light to moderate rainfall across various districts in the region. Areas including Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Mandi, and Kangra may experience some intense rain, especially in isolated spots.
Additionally, light to moderate showers are expected in the districts of Kullu, Una, and Chamba. Isolated light rainfall is also predicted for Kinnaur, Lahul, and Spiti over the next few hours.
Earlier, on June 26, the IMD had issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall beginning June 29, warning of possible flash floods, rising river levels, and landslides in multiple districts.
